The link between Probiotics and Weight Loss

Hoping to drop a few kg's? Then maybe you should start taking a probiotic.

Recent studies show that keeping a healthy gut bacteria balance is a key element in staying at a healthy weight.

An unhealthy digestive tract is one of the major causes of weight gain. There are 2 studies in particular, these revealed that gut bacteria varied significantly between those who are obese and those who are thin.

The 1st study showed that  people who are overweight have about 20% more of the “bad” bacteria and  around 90% less of the “good” bacteria when compared to their thin counterparts.

There is Good News!
In the second study, the group that was overweight took a Probiotic, Lactobacillus every day for 12 weeks. As a result, these overweight participants experienced a 5% reduction in their stomach fat as well as a 3% reduction of their subcutaneous fat (situated underneath the skin).

In conclusion foods high in sugar, foods that contain bad fats and that are highly processed fuel the growth of bad bacteria. The same foods also play a large role in weight gain.

To improve your gut bacteria we recommend taking a good probiotic such as PB8. Also eating foods that help improve this such as sauerkraut, kombucha, kimchi and kefir.
