If you hope to not gain weight this long weekend and Easter then here are a few tips that will keep you on the right track without being a total party pooper and still being able to enjoy some of the food (chocolate).
First things first, DO NOT EAT ANY Easter chocolate until easter. Once you justify having just a piece of chocolate or just one egg, we all know how that one goes. Just one egg, just a few more, why not have a bunny also... and Easter isn't even here yet. So clean out your desk of all easter chocolate, hide it until Easter.
Go for QUALITY over quantity. Choose your favourite chocolate in advance and stick to having just that on Easter day. Whether it's a Cadbury cream egg, Lindt Bilby, Hersheys egg or one of the many million other chocolate brands. Savour the delicious flavour of a chocolate you enjoy eating rather than load yourself with volumes of chocolate that is just ok.
Choose dark chocolate over regular milk chocolate. Dark chocolate contains a higher level of cacao which helps suppress appetite, and also contains much lower sugar than milk chocolate. For instance a serving of dark chocolate can have as little as 3 grams of sugar compared to milk choc which is at least 5x that.
Eat a healthy and filling breakfast on easter morning. Eggs, sourdough and avocado are a great combination of healthy fats, protein and complex carbohydrates that will balance your blood sugar and fill you up so you don't have much extra room for chocolate.
